Seriously make this. Holidays are hard, glogg is not. Make a pot of this up and get your merriment on! P.S. Glogg is Swedish mulled wine and it is delish, our recipe is adapted a bit, traditionally it includes raisins and almonds. Ours doesn't but I promise it includes delishness; beware it packs a punch.
- 750 ml bottle of Red wine
- 750 ml bottle of Port wine
- 1 cup White sugar
- 2 Cinnamon sticks
- 4 Cloves
- 6 Cardamom seeds crushed by hand
- One peice of shaved orange peel about 2"
- 1" piece of ginger
- 1 cup of Brandy or vodka
Step 1: Put a large pot on the stove, over high heat. Add one cup of water and 1/2 cup sugar to the pot, and stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 3: Lower the heat to medium and add your spices and orange peel. Stir again with wooden spoon. Do not allow the mix to come to a boil from this point on.
Step 4: Add the bottle of red wine and bottle of port wine and heat up and infuse with spices.
Step 5: Sweeten and spice to taste.
Step 6: Strain and top up with vodka or brandy and serve hot off the stove.
Note: The drink can be made a day ahead and kept covered, on the stove, at room temperature. Just reheat before serving.
